Not a free upgrade
No Free Upgrade for The Wolf Among Us Remastered
Telltale's own headline is 'Own the original? Save up to 50%.' That is a discount, not a free upgrade. You need the digital original, on the same store, on the same account. A PS5 owner without PlayStation Plus gets 30 percent, not 50. A new player on that PS5 account pays full price.
If this, then that
Use the row that matches the account you will buy with.
| You own | You buy on | You pay |
|---|---|---|
| Steam digital original | Steam, same account | 50 percent off |
| Epic digital original | Epic, same account | 50 percent off |
| Xbox One digital original | Xbox, same account | 50 percent off |
| PS4 digital original, with Plus | PS5, same account | 50 percent off |
| PS4 digital original, no Plus | PS5, same account | 30 percent off |
| Nothing | PS5, no Plus | Full $24.99 |
| Nothing | Steam, Epic, Xbox, or PS5 with Plus | 20 percent until 12 Nov |
| Boxed original | Any store | No owner discount |
| Original on a different store | A new store | No owner discount |
Cases that look like they should count
Telltale excludes physical copies because ownership cannot be verified. The qualifying digital original must be on the same store and account. The policy does not publish a separate rule for redeemed keys or shared libraries, so check eligibility on the store rather than assuming either qualifies.
A PS4 digital original still counts when you buy the PS5 remaster on the same PlayStation account. The remaster itself is not a PS4 game. The discount and the platform are different questions.
On 29 Oct 2026 at 4 PM PT, Telltale said some eligible owners could not see the discount. If your account matches a row above and the cart does not, that bug is the first thing to suspect. A repair time was not published.
Store cutoff conflict, checked 30 Oct 2026
Telltale lists 12 Nov 2026 at 6 AM Pacific, which converts to 14:00 UTC because US daylight saving ends on 1 Nov. The US PlayStation listing instead prints 12 Nov at 13:00 UTC; the Epic public Singapore listing shows 21:00 GMT+8, also 13:00 UTC. These sources disagree by one hour. Check the timer on your own store; this guide preserves both published cutoffs rather than treating them as one time.
